12. Apostasy

1. Apostasy, in the simple sense of the word, is therenouncing of the faith. Hence, apostasy is a sin of unbelief.

2. In Catholic countries a ruler who proves apostate is,upon excommunication, justly deprived of the allegiance of hissubjects.
