This unit covers the four Marian dogmas and shows that each one is really a teaching about Christ. It is also the best place to practise the theological notes, because Marian titles range from defined dogma to devotion.
Lessons
| Lesson | Big question |
|---|---|
| 7.1 Mother of God | How can God have a mother? |
| 7.2 Ever-Virgin and Immaculate | Didn’t Jesus have brothers? Was Mary sinless? |
| 7.3 The Assumption and Mary’s place | Why do Catholics pray to Mary? |
The lessons in this unit are being written. Until they are ready, the readings below cover the same ground in more depth.
Watch out for
Catholics honour Mary but do not worship her. The Immaculate Conception is not the virginal conception of Jesus. The definition of the Assumption leaves open whether Mary died first.
